Luisa Larrea

My name is Luisa Larrea and I am from Quito, Ecuador, South America. I came to the United States 15 years ago with my family looking for a better future and more opportunity. I have been working as a teacher in H.V. Helbing ever since. I received my teaching degree from a recognized university in Ecuador at Salesian Polytechnic University.

Throughout the years, I have taught a variety of children, whether it be from different backgrounds, or even who speak different languages. I try to teach, lead and help my class in a way that my students will become engaged, disciplined, and self-motivated learners for life. I am a teacher not only by profession, but also by heart.

Regarding my personal life, I am a proud mother of two beautiful daughters as well as two precious dogs. I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, cooking, watching a good movie, and doing arts and crafts.

Mrs. Nadiezhda Alvarez-Gonzalez

My name is Nadiezhda Alvarez. I graduated from the Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez, and later obtained my certification as a Bilingual teacher in Texas. I have been teaching at Helbing since 2008, most of them in 1st grade.

I enjoy teaching because I have the opportunity to serve the future citizens of our community. I believe all students can achieve the goals if they set their mind and heart to it. My goal is to teach students that every day you learn something that will help you achieve a major goal.

Holley Montes

Here is a little about me. I graduated from UTA in 2005. This is my ninth year teaching and my fourth year with FWISD as a kindergarten teacher, which I love very much. I have a 30-year. old daughter, Bailey, and two grandbabies. One is in 5th grade (a boy) and the other in Pre-k (a girl). I have a son, E.J. who serves in the Army and he and his wife have my two grandsons. One is 2 yrs. old and the other 1 yr. old. So, I am very blessed and proud of my children.

As a teacher, I enjoy teaching all students who are from different cultures and different learning levels.  All subjects are very important to students because they explain how the world works around them. All students come with different knowledge and experiences. It is up to the teacher to find what knowledge the student has and help students add new knowledge. A teacher can build prior knowledge by using strategies that yield higher order thinking to better comprehend and have “ah-ha” moments.

Students must feel welcomed and safe and the learning environment is inviting with positive guidance. I believe that students should not be labeled by previous teachers or in the classroom. As a teacher, students learn to be respectful. I am very supportive, caring, nurturing, and challenge students to reach their potential.

Lastly, I enjoy teaching students because they bring out the best in me. I learn as much from my students as they learn from me.
